What are we looking for in employment applicants?

Although LE attracts analytical thinkers who are challenged by complex problems, successful consulting requires much more than intellectual stamina.

People who consult must genuinely care about their clients and they must truly enjoy helping others better understand and improve through economics. Because our teams often operate in uncharted – and difficult – territory, our consultants must be willing and able to take initiative and they must have a healthy tolerance for uncertainty and frustration.

LE consultants must also be capable of working with people at all levels of an organisation – from the team members with whom we work on a daily basis to the leaders of those organisations whose understanding and acceptance of our recommendations are critical.

During the application process we will look at the following criteria:

  • Knowledge and appreciation of technical microeconomics
  • Ability to think and structure problems rapidly. (It’s not so much the right answer as the ability to tackle the problem that counts here.)
  • Communication skills. Clarity of thought should lead to clarity of expression.
  • Personality. Our culture is dynamic and fun and we are looking for people with the same characteristics.

What is it like to work at LE?

Like all consultancies, the main output of our work is the solution to client problems. The way we do this, and what distinguishes us most from other consultancies, is by using a particular set of economic and quantitative tools.

The other distinguishing feature of LE is that we enjoy applying the latest advances in econometrics and economics for solving complex problems in the areas of industrial economics, financial economics and public policy. In addition, we are strongly committed to the principle of equal opportunity and we are proud of multinational and multi-ethnic work environment.

The LE culture

The approach of LE is the perfect compromise between the intellectual stimulus of academia and the professional client-based approach of the leading management consultancies.

This culture makes LE a unique place to work. It is both fun and dynamic.

LE values

Our culture and the people who make up LE determine our values. Simply put these are:

  • Intellectual robustness: we are not interested in fads or fashions, only the right answer. This requires hard work.
  • Honesty: if a client has a problem, or if we do not believe the client’s analysis we will tell them.
  • Professionalism: good economics and lots of integrity only get you so far.
  • Fun: consulting is hard (don’t believe anyone who tells you otherwise). We put a lot of emphasis on making LE a fun place to work and the degree to which a project is interesting is an important factor in deciding whether we take the work.

To apply, please send your application by e-mail, letter or fax, quoting LE-RECRUIT.
